Luang Prabang to Hanoi by Bike
This exceptional, fully supported cycling adventure takes us through some of the most stunning landscapes of Laos and Vietnam. We commence cycling on the banks of the Mekong river in the World Heritage listed town of Luang Prabang with its exquisite golden temples and waterfalls. Continuing through rolling mountain scenery to Nong Khiew we experience the landscape by longboat to the village of Ban Sopjam where we stay with the village headman. Travelling northeast we cycle to the intriguing Vieng Xai Caves where the Lao People's Revolutionary Party lived during the Secret War. Then we enter Vietnam and explore the beautiful valley of Mai Chau and its many minority villages, before completing our adventure in the bustling northern capital of Hanoi. This journey by bike offers a fascinating insight into the landscapes and cultures through which you pass, offering a rare opportunity to interact with the different minority groups and learn about both the turbulent and rich history of the region.

I really enjoyed this trip, my first with World Expeditions. The trip was well organised from start to finish, with a great range of interesting accommodation. I cycled in a small group, there were 5 of us. The landscapes in Laos are tremendous with a great variety of interesting sites.
We had a great time throughout the two weeks, the cycling was tough at times but very rewarding. I would certainly recommend this trip to anyone who wants to experience fantastic scenery, friendly people and interesting villages, towns and different cultures, as well as great cycling.
