Burgundy Cycle

I had a very good time in France. The trip was well organized and the scenery beautiful, we travelled through some wonderfull villages and tasted some great wines. I would certainly consider arranging another trip through U-tracks and will suggest using you guys to any friends or colleagues that I can.

Greenland

Take an adventure holiday in GREENLAND with World Expeditions, one of the world’s leading travel companies.

Greenland has the second largest ice sheet in the world (after Antarctica) and the northernmost land area in the world at Cape Morris Jesup – just 730kms from the North Pole. Greenland has an area of 2.17 million square kilometres of which just 410,000 square kilometres is not covered by ice. The population is around 56,000, and 13,650 live in the capital of Nuuk, on the west coast. There are six large towns in addition to the capital, and 120 settlements, trading posts and sheep stations. Danish sovereignty was established in 1721 and to this day the country, whilst largely self-governing through a system of Home Rule, is in national union with Denmark. The currency is Danish Krone, and Denmark controls foreign policy, the police service, the judicial system and the surveillance of Greenland’s waters and jointly controls the exploitation of mineral resources. Hunting and fishing are the country’s main industry’s and they are the worlds largest exporters of cold-water prawns.

The Weather in Greenland

The climate in Greenland is predominantly Arctic. Due to the vast size of the island there are considerable variations, with the South experiencing mild conditions in summer whilst the inland and northern regions have temperatures, which rarely rise above freezing.

Our trip takes place in June to September when the temperatures are mild ranging from 2-10 degrees. However, wind conditions can add chill factors (especially on the boats) and you should be prepared for this.
